Private Couples Intensive
Couples Discernment Retreat
Space to consider your future. No pressure to choose a particular path.
A different kind of space
Before trying to repair the relationship, decide whether to try.
One of you may be holding onto hope while the other wonders whether there is anything left to save. Or you may both feel caught between the fear of leaving and the exhaustion of staying. When your goals are different, another conversation about fixing things can leave you feeling even further apart.
The Couples Discernment Retreat is centered on clarity rather than reconciliation. In a private Siesta Key setting, Wendy Haggerty and Dr. Maureen Ryan help you look thoughtfully at the relationship, how you arrived here, and what each of you is willing—or not willing—to do next.
You do not have to arrive with matching intentions. This is space to consider your options with greater understanding and respect, without selling either of you on staying together or separating.
What we can explore together
Understanding before action. Choice without persuasion.
A fuller relationship story
Look beyond the latest argument to understand the hurts, turning points, and patterns that brought you to this crossroads.
Room for different intentions
Give each partner's hopes, doubts, and limits room to be heard without treating uncertainty as a failure.
Your own contributions
Reflect on what you can take responsibility for and what you would want to change, in this relationship or a future one.
Three possible directions
Consider continuing as you are, moving toward separation, or mutually committing to a defined period of relationship repair.
More considered dialogue
Approach difficult conversations with less urgency to persuade and more attention to what each person is actually saying.
An intentional next step
Explore what support and practical conversations may be needed for the direction you are considering. Clarity can grow even if a final decision takes longer.
Is this right for you?
For couples at a relationship crossroads, especially when one partner is leaning toward leaving and the other wants to work things out.
You do not need to have the perfect words for what is happening. These experiences may feel familiar.
- One of you is considering separation or divorce while the other hopes to reconnect.
- You keep circling the same stay-or-go conversation without gaining clarity.
- You are not ready to commit to relationship repair, but want to examine that possibility.
- You want to understand your own part in the relationship before choosing what comes next.
The focus of your retreat
A pause with purpose at a pivotal moment.
Name the question honestly
Begin with where each of you stands today. The work is about the future of the relationship, not assuming you have both agreed to save it.
Look at the paths ahead
Examine your relationship history, each person's contributions, and what continuing, separating, or attempting repair could mean. Your guides support reflection, not persuasion.
Choose the next conversation
Consider what would make your next step thoughtful rather than reactive, including ongoing professional support where needed.

Your Therapeutic Guides
Two perspectives. Thoughtful, personal guidance.
